CAPRIN (Caprylic Acid) is the common name for the eight-carbon saturated fatty acid that is commonly found naturally in coconuts and breast milk.

CAPRIN is known to have anti-fungal properties, and is often recommended by nutritionists & physicians for the treatment of candidiasis. CAPRIN is excellent for dealing with candida in the intestines which occurs quite often due to intestinal dysbiosis, i.e. an imbalance of the micro-flora in the gut.

CAPRIN is also used in the treatment of some bacterial infections. Due to its relatively short chain length it has no difficulty in penetrating fatty cell wall membranes, hence its effectiveness in combating certain lipid-coated bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and various species of Streptococcus. But we most often use CAPRIN in combination with GARLIC PLUS, ADP and Biotics' herbal antifungal supplement FC-CIDAL as a ""total program"" to combat intestinal and systemic fungal overgrowth. Additionally, of course, an antifungal program has to include a change in diet that is low in carbohydrates, especially sugar and most grains, especially avoiding corn and peanuts.

MEDICAL USES

CAPRIN is an anti-fungal preparation preferred by many doctors in addition to or instead of the prescription drug Nystatin for the control of intestinal yeast Candida Albicans. The anti-fungal effect of CAPRIN has been demonstrated in both clinical trials and in vitro studies. In the pH range of 2.5 - 8.5, CAPRIN exhibits high fungicidal activity against yeasts, especially Candida Albicans. The exact mechanism of fungicidal action of caprylic acid is not fully understood, however, it is postulated that Caprylic acid dissolves the cell membrane of yeast, causing changes in fluidity and permeability that lead to membrane disaggregation.

When there is an overgrowth of intestinal yeast it has been shown that Candida can migrate through the intestinal wall causing systemic fungal infections . Because of its excellent lipotrophic (fat solubility) properties (which allow it to penetrate the mucosal cells), CAPRIN has the ability to attack and destroy yeast found in the intestinal wall and systemically in our body fluids as well.

Even though Caprylic acid is a naturally occurring substance, found in great abundance in coconut, it is totally lethal to Candida and most other fungi as well.

NOTE: Taking one to three tablespoonsful of virgin coconut oil daily can have a dramatic positive effect on fungal infections. I recommend liberal use of coconut oil. It is the healthiest oil we can consume. If, however, that is not to your liking, I suggest you use Biotics’ product CAPRIN along with daily uses of coconut oil for baking, frying, etc.

Because CAPRIN is fat soluble we recommend it be taken with or just after meals for optimal absorption.

CAPRIN should be taken with ADP as mentioned above and with
